Just Keep Swimming…

Dhon’s favorite movie as a baby was Nemo. It’s ironic because he along with many of our family members are not strong swimmers, yet it won’t stop us from trying. If you know Dhon, that boy still tried to swim with the big dawgs. We were able to take him swimming with the entire family. It is always helpful when Devin is in town, then I have an extra set of strong hands to help Dhon explore more. We were able to get him in a floatie tube and Dhon absolutely loved it. Once that G button is out, I can only imagine how he will want to experience the pool later.

His birthday week was great, his Madonna team was very supportive. He had rehab on his birthday. One of his rehab (I’ll call him a teammate) even went out of his way to get Dhon some birthday cupcakes and write him a card. We barely even knew him. Bless his heart.

We are ending the week by going to the movies as a family with some friends. The new Jurassic Park, let’s see how it goes.

Time with family has been invaluable. We got to celebrate Dhon’s birthday all together. Our aunt, uncle and grandpa came into town. They haven’t seen Dhon for a minute and grandpa hadn’t seen him at all after the accident and like 4+ years before then. The grammar on that sentence is kinda bad, but you get it. We went swimming, we got to support our lil sister Daisy at her violin recital!

We are all working hard to put together individual and collective fund raisers to raise funds for Dhon’s van. This unit has been so strong through all of this and I am very proud of them!

In a couple weeks, Dhon will be transitioning to outpatient therapy, currently he is in outpatient day therapy. The only real difference is that we will have different therapists and only do two times a week instead of three. We will try to incorporate some more home workouts during the next season as well.

Please be praying for Dhon and this family as you heart prompts. We are blessed to be able to share this journey with others. We are blessed that God has revealed Himself in many more ways than we can imagine.
