Dhon’s two most verbalized phrases are “bath room” and “I love you”. He says them multiple times a day. When the whole family is around it is even multiplied. Dhon being able to verbalize certain phrases and words has been a true highlight in his communication with the family and those around him. In some ways he has his own language because his mouth, tongue and teeth are not able to fully formulate and articulate the words how most people speak. That is why we have speech therapy and our therapist is awesome!
Dhon continues the grind in rehab and makes improvements each week. One example is on the zero G harness walker. He is traveling further distances in shorter amounts of time. I wish I could get good videos of it, but it is hard when I help with the exercises. The rehab days are long and Dhon is quite exhausted after but he continues to put a smile on his face. You can just see the determination and hope that there is so much more room for growth in Dhon.
Dhon has been able to find small communities at our gym and church. A few people have been able to pray for him which we have been missing that in person prayer for a little whiles. I may have said that already come to think of it, oh well.
When the 5 of us siblings get together it is nothing but love. With a lot of us split during the older one’s college years and then Dhon and I being in Oregon. It was maybe twice a year that all 5 of us would be in the same place. Since being in Nebraska it has happened on several occasions. Thanks to Devin and Deja for traveling to make things work! Dhon loves being a part of the family as he laughs and jokes more when we are all together. It is cool to see our baby sister Daisy interact with Dhon at her age as well. Not many kids her age get that exposure, I am excited to see how it will shape her heart.
Dhon is preparing for his birthday as friends and family plan to come celebrate. Please feel free to reach out and wish him happy birthday however you see fit. Thank you and God Bless!
